Rules of usage of BEO03 (please have in mind that I have 30% of my contract time for the cluster):

  • sysadmin communicates with users via “message of the day displayed after logon”, you need to read it from time to time. It will be short and contain only important issues
  • All jobs are dispatched via queuing system (no jobs outside queue)
  • NO jobs on the master node beo03. You must only use nodes. If you violate this your account will be immediately blocked, no exceptions
  • If you send jobs to specific node, fill up nodes before occupying other node
  • Time limit for jobs is 30 days or 14 days for parallel jobs

If you need more time let me know by mail

  • Users are welcome to help me update or clarify web documentation
  • Accounts are valid for 1 year till end of January. If you need to keep it for next year please send me e-mail till 15th of January.
  • Disk quota is displayed after logon. If you are above disk quota you will see warning. Once you are above quota you have additiona 2GB more space and one week to clean. In very specific cases disk quota can be increased. Default disk quota is 20GB.
  • There is no backup of user files so please don't type 'rm *' or similar commands. /home disk is on redundant disk array preventing disk corruption. You have to backup your files yourself
  • If you need to install software, ask your Professor to send me confirmation that he agrees. Please send me all info about the software. Installation can take up to 2-3 weeks depending on my workload (if software creates security risks or instability sysadmin can refuse to install it)
  • Sharing account between users is strictly FORBIDEN
  • Max. number of jobs is changed depending on the load of the cluster.
  • Sysadmin is not working on Saturday or Sunday so please respect me and don't send mails Friday afternoon or during weekend, send it on following Monday instead
